It’s come to my attention that if I just SLOW DOWN, the drawings would come out better. But I have a hard time with that. I tried this time, but at some point I just want to be done and move on.

Happy day 4 of el año nuevo 🪅 This year my biggest creative goal is actually to sew my own clothes, BUT improving visual art is up there. To do that I must dare to try new things.

Today, the new thing was to try a wayyy different color palette. Girl. GIRLLLLLL. 😍 the color inspired was from Bee & Puppycat. I just started watching it (80 years late).

I used a model/reference from Pinterest and promptly lost it because I didn’t save it.

You guys remember when I asked for suggestions on what to do with the green background in my story? Well, I got a suggestion from @bidsbarto to paint a flamingo. I don't have any formal training in painting except from @ashley.cassens for a semester, but it came out pretty cool!

I've been trying more embroidery lately. I learned

I've been trying more embroidery lately. I learned how to do fishbone and satin stiches and french knots. The first two pics are some leaf designs and the last is a depiction of a storm cell with tornado activity (the pink dots) that I made for my sister because she likes tornadoes. When I get better I am definitely going to redo that one so it can be smoother.

I discovered that embroidery puts me in a meditative/flow state were I can feel calm and turn the buzziness of my brain down for a while. And when its finished, you have a tactile result to enjoy. Making leaves helps me envision my connection to nature and practicing a craft that's thousands of years old helps me feel my connection to those that came before me.

This granny craft really is as relaxing as it is rewarding and I feel no guilt about "wasting time" when I do it.
